Study Purpose

Symptoms of menopause – usually hot flashes and night sweats – are very common and can have a huge impact on quality of life, yet treatment options remain very limited. This study aims to fill this unmet need. This is the first time that this drug, ABCL635, is being tested in humans. The study will test the safety and tolerability of a single dose of ABCL635 to see the effects it has on healthy adult men and postmenopausal women.

Details

You will stay overnight at the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) at Mount St Joseph Hospital (MSJ) from the evening before receiving the drug, and for at least 48 hours after dosing whilst undergoing procedures (blood collection, ECGs, and vital signs collection) at specific timepoints. The study drug will be given on "Day 1" via injection into the fatty tissue under the skin of the abdomen. You will be closely monitored for any side effects by the research medical team. The study procedures are estimated to take 2-3 hours of your time on Day 1, and 1-2 hours on Days 2 and 3. You will return to the CTU for 10 follow-up visits throughout a 20-week period. Each visit will take 1-2 hours.
