REACH BC connects volunteers like you with health researchers across British Columbia
We’ve heard you: British Columbians are interested in health research, but don’t know how to learn more, or get involved. At the same time, researchers often struggle to find enough volunteers for their research.
REACH BC connects you—the public—with researchers in BC to foster a stronger and healthier future for our province.
Researchers around the province are looking for volunteers like you to participate in many different types of health research study opportunities and clinical trials. Sign up to be matched with research opportunities.
Find a health area that interests you. Search by medical condition or health topic.
Health research is vital for expanding medical knowledge and making new scientific discoveries to treat diseases and improve health care. But researchers are unable to do their work without the help of volunteers to participate in their studies. REACH BC brings together researchers and volunteers to make it easy to participate in research, improving the overall quality of life for British Columbians and people across the world.
REACH BC connects British Columbians to opportunities to participate in health research. Anyone can sign up to connect with researchers, or to learn more about research opportunities throughout BC. It was created to connect you with health research across our province.
Research Opportunities take various forms. As a volunteer you can participate in a research study such as a Clinical Trial— observations that involve an intervention or new treatment—or become a Patient Partner and get involved in health research governance, help set research priorities, or work as part of a team to conduct research.
How can you get involved?
There are many types of research and a wide variety of research opportunities. By participating in a health research opportunity, you may be asked to:
Complete a lifestyle survey
Help test a medical device
Participate in a clinical trial for a new drug
Donate blood or a tissue specimen
There are also patient-oriented research opportunities where you can:
Join a research team and think of new questions and design studies
Join a committee to share a patient's point of view

You can shape health research. Once you sign up, REACH BC will notify you when you match with potential research opportunities. If you express interest and the researchers think you’re a fit, you may become an active participant of the study.
